What You Need to Apply for a Loan

At Prosperity Credit Union, we know your time is valuable (especially when calving season is in full swing or the kids have hockey practice at dawn). So, to make the most of your loan appointment, here’s a handy checklist of what to bring along. The more prepared you are, the faster we can get you on your way!
1. Proof of Income (a.k.a. "Show Me the Money")
We need to see how much you’re earning each month. Bring along:
- Your most recent pay stubs (a couple will do)
- If you’re self-employed, your last two years of tax returns (we love supporting local businesses!)
- Pension or other income statements if you’re retired (and finally enjoying life)
- Investment statements
2. Identification (Because We Need to Know It’s Really You)
We’re friendly, but we still need to confirm your identity. Bring one piece of government-issued photo ID, like:
- A driver’s license (bonus points if it still has your high school address)
- A passport (even if it’s only been used for that one trip to Vegas)
3. Banking Information (So We Know Where to Send the Money)
We need your account details to deposit your loan. Bring:
- A void cheque OR
- A direct deposit form
4. Monthly Expenses (Keeping It Real)
Let’s chat about where your money goes (and comes from) each month. This helps us ensure your loan fits comfortably into your budget. Jot down estimates for:
- Mortgage or rent
- Utilities (we know winter heating bills are no joke)
- Other loans or credit card payments/statements
5. A Sense of Humor (Optional, But Encouraged)
We’ll take care of the serious stuff, but we promise to keep things light and easy. Questions? Concerns? We’re here to answer them all - no judgment, no jargon.
